Nicolai vom Kloster-Kamp was the winner of the Belgian Working Championship in 1983 and D.V.I.N. Working Championship in 1983, placed 2nd in 1987 and 3rd in 1986 at the D.V. Meisterschaft and a multiple all-breeds European Championship competitor (placed 7th at the F.C.I. Weltmeisterschaft in 1982). He was also the Landesmeister of Landesgruppe Nordrhein in 1984. Nicolai passed the Körung 'for life' with highest possible rating for hardness and working drives. D.V. Kör-Meister and judge Ottmar Vogel described Nicolai as a work-happy dog with a highly pronounced prey drive, medium level of hardness and his protection instinct was medium. Nicolai had an outstanding working record and lived to 10 years of age as did his sire, Bingo von Ellendonk. “This medium-sized black male was bred in Germany. Although he is medium-sized he has substance. The topline is correct and he has a very good tailset with good angulation. His neck could be longer. His head is good but the nose is a little crooked and the underjaw could be better developed. His markings are dark as are his eyes. The character of this dog is something special. Several times he passed his SchH III and IPO III (with figures like 93-99-96=290 points). He also passed the Körung 'for life' (Class 1A) and for courage and hardness he received a very high score of excellent. At the age of nine years he was selected for the German team during the European Working Championship (all breeds). He always scored excellent at working trials. In 1987 he came second at the German Dobermann Working Championship.” [by J.M. v.d. Zwan: In the beginning.....A history of the Dobermann] Nicolai has proven to be a strong producer for both confirmation and working ability. Below are his most influential litters and offspring:
